“There are many challenges Special Operations soldiers face, both in the line of duty and in life after combat. Transitioning is a difficult process that, if done alone, can be devastating. We want to fight for those who have fought for us. ”

The Charlie Mike Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides support to active duty and medically-retired Army Special Forces Green Berets and their families, as well as to the families of Green Berets who have lost their lives in service to our Nation. The Foundation aims to uphold needs unmet by the government, with an emphasis on building personal and family resiliency, and supporting the full reintegration of veteran personnel into society following wounds, injuries, and extended deployments.

The Charlie Mike Foundation’s four main programs are:

  1. Soldier Support - aiding in transition assistance; funding for award ceremonies and receptions; funding advanced rehabilitation, operational health and performance programs, and equipment; providing vocational training; funding for events that bring unity and brotherhood.
  2. Family Support - assisting Special Forces families experiencing health and welfare challenges, and holding events that enhance personal and family resiliency.
  3. Tragedy Assistance & Survivor Support - assistance for wounded, ill, and injured Green Berets, Gold Star Families, and for funeral services and commemorations for Special Forces personnel not covered by the Department of Defense, including travel expenses.
  4. Battle Buddy Support- assistance in connecting Green Beret soldiers to one another. This is an essential part of reintegration.

Special Forces soldiers implement unconventional operations by air, land, or sea during combat or peacetime as members of elite teams. These activities include offensive raids, demolitions, reconnaissance, search and rescue, and counterterrorism. In addition to their combat training, Special Forces members often have specialized training in swimming, diving, parachuting, survival, emergency medicine, and foreign languages. Duties include conducting advanced reconnaissance operations and collecting intelligence information; recruiting, training, and equipping friendly forces; conducting raids and invasions on enemy territories; laying and detonating explosives for demolition targets; locating, identifying, defusing, and disposing of ordnance; operating and maintaining sophisticated communications equipment.

There are many challenges Special Operations soldiers face, both in the line of duty and in life after combat. Transitioning is a difficult process that, if done alone, can be devastating. We want to fight for those who have fought for us. These soldiers have been the tip of our nation’s spear; all have sacrificed some and some have sacrificed all. Green Berets always have a battle buddy in active duty, and we are here to make sure they have a battle buddy when they get out.
